kol share’e fe belady WAS ESTABLISHED IN 2011 BY A TEAM OF TALENTED AND PASSIONATE DESIGNERS, ARCHITECTS AND URBAN PLANNERS, INCLUDING HALA SALEH, RANIA FAHMY, ALAA MAHMOUD, KHALED ELSHEITY, IBRAHIM MOHASSEB, SHERIF BARAKAT AND FADY ELSADEK. THE ORGANIZATION COLLABORATED WITH THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY IN CAIRO (AUC), AS A CASE STUDY IN A 400-LEVEL ANTHROPOLOGY COURSE. THE STUDENTS PLAYED A VITAL ROLE IN MAKING THE PROJECT A SUCCESS AND HELPING THE ORGANIZATION BY DESIGNING A ‘RESIDENTS SURVEY’, WHERE THE INFORMATION GATHERED WAS MATERIALIZED AND REFLECTED IN DEVELOPING THE DESIGN BASED ON THE RESIDENTS’ NEEDS. THIS MADE THE PROJECT PURPOSEFUL AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, REALISTIC AND PRACTICAL. WE KICKED OFF OUR WORK WITH A PROTOTYPE STREET IN NASR CITY AS A DESIGN GUIDELINE, TO BE DUPLICATED AND APPLIED ON STREETS WITH A SIMILAR NATURE.
AS A COMPANY THAT STRONGLY BELIEVES IN PHILANTHROPY AND GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY VIA CSR INITIATIVES, WE KICKED OFF THE “KOL SHARE’E FEE BELADY” PROJECT. THIS WAS AN INITIATIVE THAT BEGAN WITH THE GOAL OF BEAUTIFYING EGYPTIAN PUBLIC SPACES TO BECOME ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY, AESTHETICALLY PLEASING AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, ACCESSIBLE AND SAFE FOR PEDESTRIANS AND CYCLISTS. THE OBJECTIVE IS NOT ONLY TO MAKE THESE PUBLIC SPACES DELIGHTFUL AND ENJOYABLE TO STROLL, BUT ALSO FUNCTIONAL AND PRACTICAL. WE PLANTED TREES, REDESIGNED LANDSCAPES, INSTALLED LIGHTING & PEDESTRIAN FURNISHINGS, PAVED THE STREETS, AND INCLUDED OTHER ELEMENTS TO TRANSFORM THE STREETSCAPE TO EMBODY LIFE, LIGHT, COLOR, AND TEXTURE, FOR A USABLE, COMFORTABLE AND ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE.
